Quiet Hours are from Sunday to Thursday at 10 PM-8 AM, and Friday to Saturday at 12:30 AM- 8 AM. Courtesy Hours are 24/7. Courtesy Hours means that at any given point of the day, you are supposed to courteous to others in noise levels. This means that it doesn't matter if it is 1 PM on Sunday or 2 AM on Monday, you still need to be respectful of the hall.
Think about it: At any given time you are making noise, you might be bothering your roommate, your neighbors on both sides, and your neighbors across from you. That is a range from potentially bothering 0-7 people. Furthermore, dorms have a 24/7 Courtesy Hours policy. That means you should be courteous to the people around you regardless of what time of the day it is.
If it is late at night, and you feel unsafe walking back towards Gillson, call Public Safety's non-emergency phone number and ask for a shuttle ride back. P.Safe will escort you back and give you a ride. This ride will be given if it is within campus or a certain radius from campus. For example, you can get a shuttle ride back to Gillson from the library, Lone Mountain, Loyola Village, and Pedro Arupe.
You get four overnight visits a month. No more than three overnights in a row. The visits reset at the start of the month. If you have any more questions about the policy, ask the front desk.
The answer to this question is circumstantial. I always strongly recommend to talk to your CASA coach before you drop a class. The drop in hours are on this website. You can send them an email or set up an appointment. DO NOT DROP A CLASS IF IT WILL PUT YOU UNDER 12 UNITS. If you have less than 12 units as a USF student, you will not be eligible to live on campus and you will no longer be a full time student and be a part time student. Your scholarship and loans are likely to be only applicable for full time students. So if you drop below 12 units, you are putting your financial aid and housing status at risk.
This is completely common. The front desk sorts the mail from 4-6pm. The front desk gets a huge influx of mail, especially during the first month of the semester. So if your mail has not been sorted and logged by 6pm that day, then it will get sorted and logged the next day between 4-6pm. Basically, your package may have arrived at Gillson, but may take 1-3 days to be sorted and logged. So while your order may be in Gillson according to Amazon, it is not ready for you to pick it up.
R.A.s and all USF staff are mandated reporters. This means that if anything Title IX related were to happen, then we have to document it to Leigha Flemming. However, this information will be kept private. If you want complete confidentiality, the place on campus to go is CAPS.
Go to the front desk. The first two temp cards are free. After two, you start to get charged per temp card. The charge would be sent to you as a bill at the end of the school year.
Don't throw stuff out the window. That is called defenestrating. This will result in a $250 fine and being documented for an Incident Report.
Go to the USF rooms page on your USF account. There are video tutorials on how to room swap and how to request a new room.
Gillson Hall
  • Megan Trapani - Monday, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
  • Natalie Muñoz - Tuesday, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
  • Michael Tadesse-Bell - Wednesday, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
No. This is a smoke free campus. You aren't even allowed to have candles in your dorm. You are not allowed to smoke in your room--no cigarettes, weed, and otherwise.
USF gets federal funding which means that it follows federal law. The state law says that weed is legal now. The federal law has stayed the same. Therefore, USF has to abide by the federal law in order to continue to get federal funding. In addition to that, there is no smoking whatsoever in the dorms. Whether it is cigarettes, weed, candles, incense, or other flammable materials, it is not allowed since it is a smoke free campus of all the sorts and not allowed in dorms.
Keep a look out for your USFCA email. The Office of Student Conduct will send you an email. Check the Fogcutter for the details. Each case is handled differently. If you are above 18, then your parents shouldn't find out due to FERPA laws. Unless you waived off your rights to privacy, if you are over 18, then you should be protected from having your information released.
If the damage was a result of something you did (i.e. command strips), then you will get charged when you checked out of your room. The charges will vary. You can talk more with your RA about this to get more details.
Go to One Card Office in Lone Mountain. https://www.usfca.edu/one-card
Ask for a new card. Depending on how many times you lost it, you might get charged with a fee of $20-25.
Also, with your new card, they will not replace your MUNI pass.
Contact Facilities when something is wrong with the STRUCTURE of the room. For example, a broken window, a fire alarm that won't stop chirping, a heater that won't turn on or off, a light fuse that blew out, a clogged toilet or sink, etc.

Contact Furniture Service Team if there is something wrong with the ITEMS of the room. For example, a desk that needs to be moved, a bed that needs to be lofted or lowered, a broken chair that needs to be replaced, etc.

Only Freshmen are guaranteed on campus housing. After your freshmen year, if you want housing, you have to enter the housing lottery. You are not guaranteed housing after your first year. Continuing student options for Freshmen include Toler Hall and Pedro Arupe. You will get more details on how to apply via SHaRe updates via email. Keep a look out for posters.
Because it is a fire hazard and SHaRe gets the building insurance by signing a contract that says that residents will not be allowed to have candles in their rooms.
Of course. You get a free membership since you are a USF student.
Keep a look out for SHaRe emails and advertisements that will come out in December. You can begin the application process then.
